I am delighted to be part of this fantastic project. Alex Barton is the lady responsible for collecting 50 moving stories of how Chronic Fatigue Syndrome sufferers have gone on to overcome their illnesses and live normal lives. When Alex asked me if I would submit my story for the book I was thrilled and honoured. I hope that it makes a difference. I wish there had been a book around like this when I was bed bound, as it makes for inspirational and motivation reading. If you are suffering with Chronic Fatigue, or know someone who is, I strongly recommend this great book (I’m not just saying this because my stories in there!!) :0)
What causes CFS?
Today I’ve been thinking a lot about what my friend Lisa told me. She also suffered from CFS, and we both do quite a lot of research into the possible causes of this disease. Apparently, CFS in a person under 30 yrs is brought on by trauma whilst in the mother’s womb. Lisa’s mum had her appendix out when she was 6 weeks pregnant, which is understandably traumatic for the developing embryo. My mum’s dad died during the latter stages of pregnancy when she was expecting me. This is bound to have affected me dramatically, as my mum was understandable distraught about losing her beloved dad. I’m going to carry on looking into this theory, and will present any other interesting findings.
